Hold onto your knickers everyone, today is Canada Day! It is my home country’s birthday today and to celebrate I may have baked some sugar cookies and decorated them. I can confirm they are very tasty!!
So what is Canada Day exactly? On July 1, 1867 Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act – formerly known as the British North America Act. That is just a fancy way of saying that three provinces joined together in a country: Canada. The country grew, added more provinces and finally became independent from Britain and the crown. Although truth be told we love the Royal Family.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I did. I am so happy to be working and feel honored to be able to document these moments for my sweet, sweet clients! Sarah styled this session with so many amazing props and vendors, but more on that in a bit. I feel blessed to be a natural light Houston Wedding Photographer, which is exactly how Sarah and I met. I was the second shooter for Sarah and Kyle’s wedding in 2015 and since then, we have created photo magic! This is the second session we have done together.
Sarah had a specific vision for her one-year anniversary with her husband: she wanted something romantic, soft and intimate. Sarah wore the white tule dress with a white floral crown while Kyle wore the blue tux for their first set of pictures to inspire a bohemian wedding look. Included in the pictures was a gold balloon in the shape of the number one, to obviously celebrate their first year together as a married couple.
There were so many vendors that were a part of this session so I believe giving credit where credit is due is the perfect way to express my gratitude to them. So here’s the vendor list:
I love event planning, always have, I even did a bit of it when I lived in Canada! Fun fact: once upon a time I was the director of an independent film festival. But that is neither here nor there. I had the opportunity to sit down with the creative mastermind behind one of Houston’s trendiest event planning businesses, Plan Our Day’s Samantha Gieseke. We decided to have a very British styled lunch at The Black Labrador while I pestered her with questions.
Guys, dreams do come true–Harry Potter World was amazing the second time around! Since Robert and I went to the Florida one a few years back I thought it would be meh. Well! Let me tell you that subtle but amazing changes have been made for return visitors. First off, you can now buy new enhanced wands. What do these puppies do? They are programed so that if you do a specific spell at a certain area of HP World, you make things happen. Basically you run around the park doing a scavenger hunt and casting spells. I say again dreams do come true!!
This is the bus that took us to and from Universal. So pretty!
After a fun time in San Francisco, Robert and I woke up on the Monday and made the long arduous trip to Santa Barbara along the 1. On Google Maps it says it is a 6 hour trip, not bad! What we didn’t account for was how slow we would need to drive along the cliff, as the 1 is basically a road on cliff. Don’t get me wrong, it is gorgeous, but it is a long drop to your death if you aren’t careful!! The road was at times low to the ocean and others you were driving through clouds.
