Do You Need a Wedding Planner for Your Wedding? Let's dig into why you might need one, and how they help.
What can I say about Aubrey? She has a way about her, a confidence that she exudes effortlessly. I knew I wanted to bring this out in her during her bridal session. Aubrey was seriously magical in her bridal beauty. And the lighting on the day of her bridal session was perfect, as were the temperature. One of the first cool days College Station saw this fall! It made everything fall together for this Texas A&M bridal session.
Aubrey and her now husband Sean both went to Texas A&M. You can see their sweet Houston Arboretum engagement session here, where we went on Kyle Field and everything! If you know anything about Texas A&M, you know that there are a ton of traditions that create a culture that creates a passion and loyalty to the school. So when I proposed to Aubrey that we do her bridal session here, she loved the idea. It’s an important place for her, it’s where she met her husband, but is also a place that feels like a second home to her. Plus it is gorgeous!!
Texas A&M Bridal Session under Century Tree
When Ana inquired with me, for what feels like a million years ago, she needed my photography skills for a reception moreso than a wedding. And I understood why, they were getting married elsewhere and celebrating with family here in Houston. So this was going to be fun coverage of their families celebrating. And I was totally up to the task! Instead of capturing a ceremony and getting ready photos, I did a first look with Ana and Yaqoub and then we did family photos. Then we ended the night with great food and dancing! It turned into a delightful Houston wedding reception at La Tranquila Ranch.
Ana + Yaqoub
These two met in college in 2010, Yaqoub was Ana’s TA. During the speeches I learned that he might have helped Ana with her homework…or possibly done some of it for her! The attraction was strong between these two, and they have grown to love trying new restaurants together and traveling. I always ask my couples what they love about each other, and their responses were beautiful. Ana loves Yaqoub’s kind heart and how incredibly intelligent he his. And during the reception I could see, in the small ways, how kind and in love he was with Ana. For Yaqoub, he loves not only her sense of humor but also how much she trusts him and has faith in him. The key takeaway? These two are not afraid to be honest with each other, to work together to be a strong couple. The love and respect they have for each other was obvious! I have no doubt that whatever life throws at them, they will handle it.

Delightful Houston Wedding Reception
Engagement season is officially afoot! Did you know that 19% of proposals happen in December? And that from November to February almost 40% of couples get engaged? That means that if you are waiting to get engaged and you know it’s coming, that your partner might have bought your ring already. And if they haven’t, this post on 5 killer tips on finding a great engagement ring is for them!
Set a Budget
I remember as a kid the commercials that said the person proposing saved two months of salary for the ring. And honestly? I think that theory is a bit passe in 2019. The average amount people spent in 2018 was $5,900 in the USA. But you know what I say? Averages don’t mean squat! What you should do is talk with each other and set a budget that you two can afford and look for a ring that can fit within said budget. I think Robert and I spent half that when we got engaged 9 years ago. (more…)
Beach sessions in the Houston area are my favorite when it isn’t too hot! They key is to do them before the June heat really sets in, which is exactly what Meredith and her family did! This wonderful family was vacationing together at Surfside Beach and wanted some photos together. And can you blame them? Beach photos are really fun. And it’s a fun way to get multiple generations together in a photo. It was a ton of fun capturing this Surfside beach family session.
They packed some cute beach-ready outfits for the shoot. Everyone looked like they coordinated without looking like they tried, which is really hard to accomplish! Three generations of the family are in the photos, and I made sure to capture each family unit individually, as well as entire family shots. I loved how the kids played as their parents had some sweet moments.
