I love event planning, always have, I even did a bit of it when I lived in Canada! Fun fact: once upon a time I was the director of an independent film festival. But that is neither here nor there. I had the opportunity to sit down with the creative mastermind behind one of Houston’s trendiest event planning businesses, Plan Our Day’s Samantha Gieseke. We decided to have a very British styled lunch at The Black Labrador while I pestered her with questions.
In 2014, after working for Broscoe Manor for two years, she saw that other venues didn’t offer day-of planning the way her employer did. Seeing the need, she decided to take the plunge and start Plan Our Day. Initially she offered day-of coordination, but as her company has evolved, she now offers wedding design, obtaining vendors for the couple and budget management. With the evolution of her company, Samantha is involved in every step the couple makes as they plan their wedding. She can be found looking at venues, cake tastings or helping find the little details for the big day. She had me at food tastings, lets not lie!
Samantha found success easily, in her first year she did 40 weddings! Her favorites being the ones where the feel of it was a beautiful mix of whimsical, artsy and vintage. As a lover of a romantic feel to a wedding, the small details from weddings she planned at both Pine Lake Ranch and George Ranch stand out to her the most. On both occasions not only were the details gorgeous, but the couple were relaxed and having fun. Those are my favorite type of clients too!
Samantha’s work has been published on 7 Centerpieces, Black Sheep Bride, and is set to be featured on 100 Layer Cakelet for a gorgeous styled maternity shoot. Her future look bright and I am thankful to The Rising Tide Society for aiding in us connecting!
