High Tea at Niagara-on-the-Lake

I have to admit, I am not the biggest high tea drinker, and by biggest I mean I don’t really like tea at all. None the less, when my friend Shaun invited me to high tea I was too intrigued by this to say no. This was the right decision. We rolled up to the Prince of Wales Hotel, ready for some tea, scones and other delights!

Since I am a coffee drinker, I wasn’t sure what I would like but I decided on the Heavenly Cream tea and was a little nervous. Shaun assured me it was delicious, as he had it just the week prior.

When the teas came, they came with a tier of treats {scones, bars, cupcakes, sandwiches} and spreads like whipped butter, jam and Devonshire clotted cream. The scones were warm, so we dug into those first and I had my first ever experience with with the Devonshire clotted cream and it was delicious. It was light and creamy and slightly sweet. It paired perfectly with the tea I bought. And let me tell you about that tea!! I had it black, and it was so tasty it didn’t need anything!

The experience was amazing. I loved our food, the tea was perfect, the tea cups were gorgeous, I could go on!!! Add to it, seeing a friend and enjoying our company over this was perfection. I am now looking for places to try in Houston to see if I can replicate this experience close to home. I also might have bought some of the tea to take home because I enjoyed it so much.
